  • According to the theory of proportional punishment, if someone is wielding a weapon and threatens to kill me, I have all the right in the world to defend myself with any means possible. If you do not believe in carrying a gun, that's perfectly fine.

  • While I believe racial profiling is proliferating, the example of being denied cigarettes for a British ID is a bad one. I tried buying cigarettes in VT when I first moved here, and only had my Dutch passport - no go. And I'm the typical "white" guy.

  • I'm all for proportionality in punishment. If you commit murder (as in premeditated - not manslaughter) you have no rational defense against the death penalty. If you show no mercy towards your fellow man, you can't expect mercy in return.
